Featuring Wu-Lu, Hector Plimmer, Dele Sosimi, and WahWah45s DJs Dom Servini and Scrimshire
Soothsayers present a big night of music to celebrate their new EP (Soothsayers - 'Speak to my Soul', out on 12th May), the first release on their new label WahWah45s.
Soothsayers are an unstoppable force on the UK music scene. They have released six critically acclaimed studio albums and a catalogue of 7, 10 and 12 inch vinyl, and have added their mouth watering Afrobeat and dubalicious flavours to an impressive list of festivals and venues in the UK and abroad, including Glastonbury, The North Sea Jazz Fetival, Dhaka World Music Festival, The London Jazz Festival, WOMAD, and Barbados World Music Festival. They are continuing their musical journey with a new signing to the innovative UK record label WahWah45s, who will be releasing an EP in May followed by an album in the Autumn. For their first time at the Battersea Arts Centre they will be performing a full live set taking in tunes from the new EP and the forthcoming album, as well as favourites from their extensive back-catalogue.
Kicking the evening off is a collaboration between Soothsayers and multi-instrumentalist and producer Wu-lu on bass and electronics wizard Hector Plimmer. Wu-lu has been on the scene for some time as a DJ, producer and bass player and is currently being courted by some of the UK's more progressive labels for the rights to his first solo album, which he plans to release later this year. Hector Plimmer has been producing unique and uncompromisingly quirky beats for several years and first came to the attention of a wider audience a few years ago with his track Tomorrow, which was released on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Bubblers series. His recent album (out on 10th March 2017, on Albert's Favourites) is being widely played and has already achieved several key accolades including Gilles Peterson's Album of the Week.
There will also be a very special guest appearance from Soothsayers' label mate, the Afrobeat Ambassador Dele Sosimi (currently riding high on the success of his 2015 album "You No Fit Touch Am") as well as WahWah45s very own Dom Servini and Scrimshire spinning some classic vinyl as well as some of their latest releases.
